Speaking at a meeting with Amirabad Port officials after a site visit, Shikibi-Nasab praised the coordination among executive agencies in the supply chain and the smooth flow of goods at Amirabad Port in northern Iran. He expressed hope that this collaborative momentum continues to prevent any disruptions in supplying essential goods to citizens and maintaining foreign trade.
Highlighting Amirabad's critical role in logistics and the supply of raw materials, the Managing Director stressed that improving equipment, operational capabilities, and overall efficiency are central to the PMO's agenda. He noted that deploying new equipment will not only speed up loading and unloading operations but also increase productivity, reduce vessel and cargo dwell times, and ultimately lower logistics costs and final product prices. This, he added, will lead to greater satisfaction for cargo owners and service providers.
Shikibi-Nasab acknowledged that Amirabad, as a "third-generation" port, has successfully attracted private investment. However, he revealed that a key goal for the current year is to revise and refine the private investment framework in ports. A specialized committee is currently reviewing this process, and the finalized guidelines will soon be communicated to all ports.
Concluding his remarks, the Managing Director underscored the importance of private sector participation in port development. He stated that given the expansion of infrastructure by the public sector, combined with financial constraints and growing national and international expectations, the entry of the private sector alongside the government is essential to meet these demands and play a significant role in development projects.
